MANILA, Philippines - The hunt for the coveted Off-Road Driver of the Year comes to an exciting climax with the staging of the 2010 Colt 45 Tough Truck Challenge X ends today at the McKinnley Hills in Taguig.
Over 60 drivers from all over the country are expected to compete in the event organized by the Manila Offroaders Inc. (MORI) headed by president Bryan Ong and sponsored by Colt 45, Motul, Bilstein Shocks, Dupont Paints, Motolite Batteries, Optimax Brake Fluids, Moto Spray and 199 Offroad House.
Now on its 10th year, the challenge has become more intricate as surprise twists are expected to make the title quest more unpredictable in this staging which is actually the last leg of the Colt 45 Extreme 4x4 Offroad Challenge Series.
Last year’s champion Red Diwa will lead the participating drivers from Baguio, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija to as far as Davao and Cagayan de Oro in this competition sanctioned by the governing National Association Filipino Off-Roaders (NAsFOR) headed by Monty Pedrosa.
The highly technical track will surely add more excitement as it pushes the drivers’ ingenuity, determination and strategy to the limit considering the nerve-wracking obstacles like steep hill climbs, tire-eating potholes, off-camber obstacles, log crosses, rock crawling gardens, tabletops and other challenging hurdles.
“The course is highly demanding not only for the drivers but even for the monster 4x4 trucks. For sure, it will be one exciting spectacle for the crowd,” said event director Ramon To-ong.
Among the member clubs expected to compete are the Davao Wheelers Club Suzuki 4x4, Davao 4-Wheelers, Cagayan de Oro Off-Road Club, Del Monte 4Wheelers, Baguio Benguet 4x4 Club and the organizing Manila Offroaders Inc.
