Patrimonio makes junior tennis semis

-

MANILA, Philippines - Top seed Clarice Patrimonio survived Tanaporn Thongsing of Thailand and hacked out a scrambling 7-5, 6-4 victory to advance to the semifinal round of the Phinma International Junior Tennis Championship at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center yesterday.

The win set up the Filipina bet against third ranked Siyu Qin of China for a spot in the finals of the event. Siyu whitewashed Natalia Khaniejo, 6-0, 6-0, in the other quarterfinal duel.

But while Patrimonio stayed on track, Tamitha Nguyen dropped out of the race as she lost to Sanae Ota of Japan, 6-4, 6-1.

Clinching the last semis berth was Desirae Krawcyzk of the US, who booted out Week I champion Kathinka Von Deichmann of Liechtenstein, 6-4, 6-0.

Cheng Yu and Chih-Chun Tang of Chinese-Taipei, meanwhile, led the semis cast in the boys’ category with the former beating Muhamed Nazin Khan of Malaysiam, 6-3, 6-1, and the latter defeating Wisnu Adi Nugroho of Indonesia, 6-3, 6-4.
