Grace Christian claims No.1

-

MANILA, Philippines - Grace Christian College leaned on Rhenz Tiu and David Licauco to roll back Quezon City Christian Academy, 78-56, and clinch the top spot in the first GCC High School Basketball League at the GCC gym in Quezon City.

Tiu scored nine of his team-high 15 points in the third quarter as GCC outscored QCCA, 28-11, to turn a close contest into a rout.

Licauco added seven points during that decisive spurt that led to GCC’s fourth straight win in the short, five-team tournament organized by GCC president James Tan and HBL chairman Bonnie Tan.

Don Alvin Tan finished with 18 points and Albert Olivan added 10 points for QCCA, which finished second with a 3-1 win-loss record.

The semis will pit GCC against Philippine Institute of Quezon City and QCCA against St. Peter the Apostle School.

The fifth team in the tournament was Philadelphia High School.

Tan said the MVP of the tournament will receive scholarship to GCC, while the members of the mythical team are entitled to 50 percent discount.
