Patriots looking for new import
MANILA, Philippines - The management of the Air Asia-Philippine Patriots is now looking for a tall but bulkier import after releasing erstwhile US NCAA Division I player Donald Little.
Little’s contract was reportedly terminated due to his lackluster performance the last time out after the Patriots absorbed a crushing 96-81 loss to the Westports KL Dragons in Kuala Lumpur.
The 6-foot-10 Little struggled for six points in the first half and was out-rebounded several times before finishing with 16 points and 11 rebounds in a 36-minute stint.
Little was acquired to beef up the frontcourt following the departure of former import Jason Dixon.
Team manager Erick Arejola said they’re still looking for Little’s replacement since they want to have a young and dependable center.
Most likely, they will play with only one import in Rasheim Wright when they face Satria Muda BritAma in Jakarta on Saturday.
Co-owned by Harbour Centre chief Mikee Romero and businessman Tony Boy Cojuangco, the Phl Patriots dropped to second place with six wins and three losses.
The Chang Thailand Slammers are on top of standings with a 7-2 record.
