Intramuros keeps control in Sr Fil-Am

BAGUIO, Philippines – Club Intramuros Seniors stayed on course of its title bid as it pooled an 88 for a 21-point lead in Fil B Seniors while Square and Compass remained on top of the Am B Seniors in the second round of the 61st Fil-Am Golf Invitational at the Baguio Country Club and Camp John Hay Golf Club courses here yesterday.

Rupert Bayocot and Pete Lopez fired 23 points apiece while Pol Petralba and Rey Ulob had 22 and 20 points, respectively, as Intramuros pooled a two-day aggregate of 182 after a 94 opening in the tournament presented by Toyota.

Capitol Hills Golf Club, which opened with an 84 Sunday, faltered with 77 as Bert Roman and Ding Roman shot 20 points apiece and Manny Madayag and Rene Reyes struggled with 19 and 18 points, respectively, for a 161.

Federation of Phil. Senior Golfers, meanwhile, assembled a 77 with Lucio Yan scoring 31 points and Arcadio Gapangada, Bernardo San Juan Jr. and Emil Francisco adding 20, 15 and 11 points, respectively.

Golf F Team had a 79 for a 46 as Arnold David shot a 25, Leon Bucago added a 23 and Mauricio Balauitan and Willy Dulay chipped in 17 points apiece.

Square and Compass continued to lord it over the Am B Seniors field as it fired a 74 for a 148. Fred Santos had 27, Leopoldo Organiza scored 17 and Leonard Ting and Rafael Otic added 15 points each for the team which posted a 12-point lead over Isabela Golf Club.

IGC settled for a 65 and a 136 as Bebot Bello scored 19, Roland Domingo and Per Anderson 17 and 15 points, respectively, in the event backed by American Eye Center, Rudy Project, Wilson Sports, Gatorade, Carts Plaza and Supreme Bikes.

Travellers Golf Club had a 63 and Aloha Golf Club made a 57 for third and fourth, respectively, in the event backed by Dusit Thani Manila, New World Renaissance Hotel, Island Cove, Uniliver, Ritzgolf Sports Marketing and Willow Tree.

In Fil G, Square and Compass Golf of Nueva Ecija II kept the lead with 89 points, led by Marciano Matias’ 26, Ferdinand Trinidad’s 23, Nicolas Diaz and Emmanuel Liwag’s 20 points.

Square and Compass also paced the Am division with a 64 as Marlito Riparips turned in 19 points and Gabriel Nocum, Rodel Matias and Percival Peralta added 18, 14 and 13 points, respectively.
