Rudas gains but 2 other Pinays fall

MANILA, Philippines - Marinel Rudas outplayed Sofia Dmitrieva of Russia and fashioned out a 6-4, 6-3 victory yesterday to advance in the Phinma International Junior Tennis Championship at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

But while Rudas sustained her impressive run, Marian Jade Capadocia and Tamitha Nguyen bowed to their respective foreign rivals in the tournament of Phinma Properties in cooperation with the ITF Grand Slam Development Fund.

Capadocia lost to second-ranked Chinese netter Siyu Qin, 3-6, 1-6, and Nguyen dropped a 4-6, 6-7 loss to Darya Chernetsova of Belarus.

Others who gained were Kathinka Von Deichmann of Switzerland, Aldila Sutjiadi of Indonesia, and Nathathai Khuntaket of Thailand.

Von Deichmann blanked Rui Wang of China, 6-0, 6-0; Sutjiadi scuttled Sanae Ota of Japan, 6-3, 6-0; and Khuntaket dumped Natsumi Chimura, 6-3, 6-2.
