MCC holds speed chess series at Eton

MANILA, Philippines – The Metropolitan Chess Club will hold a series of daily tournaments starting tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. at Eton Cyberpod Corinthian near EDSA corner Ortigas Ave. across Robinson’s Galleria.

The first tourney is a 1900 below one-day speed chess open to beginners, unrated and rated players – kiddies and adults whose NCFP ratings are not over 1900. The tournament format is a seven-round Swiss with 10-minute time control. Entry fee is P150 with the champion getting P2,000.

Developmental tourneys for kiddies 12-under and 16-under will also be held on Saturday and Sunday, including a 75-minute time control slated to start 2 p.m.

 (Saturday) and a one-day semi-active affair with shorter time control set at 11 a.m. (Sunday).

Entry fee is P200 with cash prizes, trophies and medals await the top four winners in both divisions.

Meanwhile, a semi-active format for private and government workers, employees, professionals and executives whose NCFP ratings are not over 1900 will be held on Monday starting 11 a.m. Fee is P300.
