Gaddi, Calderon dominate Magnolia karting

MANILA, Philippines - Jet Racing’s Christian Gaddi and Jette Calderon ruled their respective divisions in the championship leg of 2010 Magnolia Purewater Karting Super Series at the Carmona racetrack recently.

Gaddi needed just a runner-up finish to formally claim the Formula SL Novice crown while Calderon finished third to clinch the ROK Novice plum.

Gaddi topped the series with 441 points behind solid performances in past legs to post a wide margin over Ready2Race bet CJ Tsui and Joseph Marwin Rojo, who ended with 287.5 and 246.5 points, respectively.

Rojo eventually emerged Rookie of the Year.

Cebuano Daniel Miranda of M. Lhuillier, meanwhile, posted a big upset in the final race by clocking 16 minutes and 20.839.

Jaz Monzones of GP1-Natmo Asia Racing took third place while Tsui and FERN-C Racing’s Matthew Chan wound up fourth and fifth, respectively.

Calderon barely escaped in winning the ROK Novice crown tallying 405 points up against FERN-C Racing’s Estefano Rivera who bagged the runner-up honor with 384.5.

Kim Lagman, who won the race sweeping all three races, ended third overall with 267 while Christian Villenuve of Maranello-San Miguel Corporation-Marcelo Racing and Tonyo Carcel of AUTS Racing wound up fourth and fifth, respectively.

Basti Escalante of Ready2Race-Tuason Racing, on the other hand, bagged the Mini-ROK title with a total of 459.5 points or 25 points ahead of FERN-C Racing’s Aira Medrano who tallied 434.5.

Marc Meynet of Ready2Race took overall third with 249 while Carl Pollington of FERN-C Racing is fourth with 237.5 in the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Magnolia Purewater, San Miguel Corporation, Petron Corporation, Yokohama Tires, Motorstar and Aeromed.
