Kelly, Sarenas dominate URCC rivals

MANILA, Philippines - Eric Kelly of Yaw Yan Ardigma and Froilan Sarenas of Submission Sports Phils. turned back their rivals to rule their respective divisions in the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC)-Colt 45 XVIII “Relentless” at the A. Venue Events Hall in Makati City over the weekend.

Kelly and Sarenas fashioned out similar submission victories in the first round with the former beating Saipan’s Nate Flores via a rear-naked choke in their featherweight tussle and the latter claiming the middleweight title by downing SPRAWL’s Jerry “The Destroyer” Legaspi through arm triangle choke.

A Brazilian Jiu Jitsu expert, Sarenas combined power with speed to hand Legaspi his second straight defeat in the event co-presented by Colt 45 and Tribal Gear and sponsored by Alaxan FR and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Kelly, on the other hand, relied on his ground fighting and grappling skills to humble Saipan’s star and extend his winning streak to four.

Nicholas Mann made short work of Frank Navarro, needing only 34 seconds to score a win via a toe hold footlock in the event backed by SolarTV, Solar Sports, E-Games, 99.5 RT, NU 107, Rogue Magazine, Synermaxx and Stratus Cast.

Featherweight Arnel Arancina posted a technical knockout win over Roel Pacional through punches.

Other winners were George Lusadan over MJ Abrillo, Leo Occena over Noble Ampoc, Alvin Ramirez over Janito Bayot, Pete Brooks over Jose Campo III, Sulpiano Laurio over Reysaldo Transmonte and Jessie Rafols over Jessie Salvador.
