Garcia sees perfect win for Margarito
DALLAS – Here’s the perfect ending if you gaze into Robert Garcia’s crystal ball.
“I want Freddie Roach and Manny Pacquiao coming to me after the fight,” said the chief trainer of Antonio Margarito.
But it’s not to console Garcia, Margarito or the entire Mexican camp.
“I want them to shake my hand for the good work that we’ve done,” said Garcia.
Of course, the former fighter himself is hoping for a victory by Margarito over the sport’s biggest draw.
If that happens, then Garcia will be on top of the world.
“I want the best Manny Pacquiao on Saturday because I want that credit,” he said, adding that he won’t take any excuses from the other side in case of a huge upset.
Garcia said he’s had enough of stories that Pacquiao did not train well for this fight or that his mind was somewhere else, in politics instead of boxing.
“I don’t want them to use them as an excuse,” said the trainer who vowed a late stoppage for Margarito.
His counterpart, Freddie Roach, has made his own prediction, that the fight should be over in seven to eight rounds, or even as short as the Ricky Hatton fight that lasted no more than six minutes.
“He (Roach) was right a few times (with his predictions) and was wrong a few times,” Garcia told the media.
“But we’ll be stronger in this fight. Manny will be in for a long night with us.”
