Escalante claims mini-ROK crown

-

MANILA, Philippines - Basti Escalante nipped Carl Pollington in the final leg to bag the overall Mini-ROK crown in the 2010 Magnolia Purewater Karting Super Series at the Carmona Racetrack in Cavite recently.

Escalante, who took a 10-point lead into the championship leg, wrapped up the 15-lap race in 12 minutes, 32.180 seconds, just 0.010 of a second ahead of Pollington.

It was a big win indeed for the Grade 6 De La Salle-Zobel student, who honed his talent and skills at the Tuason Racing School (TRS) Racing Career Management Program.

“It was one scary close fight, but the lessons I learned from coach Mike (Tuason) really helped me focus better to win the race,” said Escalante, who wound up with 459.5 points.

“Basti’s championship feat is also a big success for the TRS Racing Career Management Program and our thrust for Filipino drivers in the pursuit of producing a world-class champion,” said Mike Tuason, the TRS vice president for Technical and Operations.

“Basti actually surpassed our expectations as he has shown maturity and competitive driving skills. He really has come of age and we expect him to achieve more milestones as he moves up to higher classes in the coming seasons,” he said.

Escalante’s campaign is backed by Tuason Racing School, Ready2Race, OMP and his individual sponsors Audi, Transnational Diversified Group, Werdenberg International Corp., Bridgestone, Puma, Coke Zero, Castrol, Bank of Commerce, Emcor, KServico, Washington Watches and The Philippine STAR.
