MANILA, Philippines - Filipino shooters showcased their red-hot sharpshooting skills as they nailed the men’s Modified, Open and Standard division team titles in the Level International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) Australasian Handgun Championships at REM Estate in Kota Tinggi, Johor in Malaysia recently.
The Filipinos were the runaway winners in the modified event after collecting a total of 5894.9981 points while Thailand was at distant second with 4520.2374.
They also snatched the top finish in the Open division after registering 5899.5661 points ahead of the runner-up Australian squad (5710.4048).
Jerome Morales and Enrico Papa dominated the Modified division with a 1-2 finish after coming out with 2190.4683 and 2030.0989 points, respectively. Morales also won the shoot off (man vs man) in the division.
Also, the Filipinos made a clean sweep in the men’s Standard division with a 1-2-3 finish from Edward Rivera (2073.0220), Wilfredo Martin Jr. (2024.6094), and Leonardo Gino Jr. (2015.9679).
Meanwhile, Stephen John Hinojales and Kenneth Ray Agustin put up a gallant stand in the Open Division but weren’t able to dislodge Czech ace Martin Kamenicek from the top spot (2229.2347) and settled for the second and third place with 2052.3145 and 1974.9408 points, respectively.
