MANILA, Philippines - Marvin Dumandan hopes to cash in on the absence of the ICTSI tour’s big guns as he goes for a third leg victory at the ICTSI Mimosa Golf Challenge beginning Nov. 8 at the Mimosa Golf and Country Club in Clark, Pampanga.
With the top five in the ICTSI-Philippine Golf Tour Order of Merit race competing in the $6 million Singapore Open also next week, Dumandan looms as the top favorite to rack up another win in the penultimate leg of the 13-stage circuit organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc.
Though he stands too far behind OOM frontrunner Juvic Pagunsan at No. 7 in the ranking, Dumandan seeks to finish among the top three with a win at Mimosa and a solid finish in the final leg in Canlubang next month.
Dumandan, winner of the ICTSI-Sherwood Hills Classic, is coming off a playoff win over Tony Lascuña in the last leg of the ICTSI-sponsored circuit at Royal Northwoods last month and is all primed up for another victory.
“Despite the absence of the big guns, it will still be tough since there are a lot of talented players in the fold. But I’ll try to win again. I have been playing solid and I like my chances,” said Dumandan.
