Ford-TRS team sweeps major awards in GT championship

MANILA, Philippines - The Ford Focus-TRS Racing Team wrapped up a successful season with a impressive harvest behind Sean Redpath, Bobby Horrigan and Ding Dizon recently in the championship leg of the 2010 Philippine GT Championship at the Clark International Speedway.

The team bagged two titles on top of a runner-up and third-place finish in the final round and swept the overall top five spots in the GT125 division of the series.

TRS Racing did it with support from Ford Racing, Castrol, Goodyear Racing, Standard Insurance, OMP, Discovery Suites, Coke Zero, Oakley, Aguila Auto Glass, Business World, C! Magazine, Fremuff, Dupont, Starbright Bodykits, Ultra Racing, Speedlab, Toptul, Rota Wheels and Weapon R.

Redpath steered Ford Focus-TRS Racing to a 1-2-3 finish, with Horrigan finishing second and Dizon third in the sprint race of the GT125.

Transmission problems hounded Redpath in the afternoon rain-soaked GT main race but Horrigan rose to the occasion as he pulled off the big win over Dominic Uy and AAP director Mark de Sales.

Lead driver Mike Tuason failed to suit up for the race but still bagged the overall series runner-up trophy and the GT300 crown.

Redpath clinched the overall GT125 title with 159 points. Dizon, who competed only in three of the six legs this season, caught up with other drivers to capture second place overall with 127 points.

Marcus Wong, who only joined two races, copped overall third with 115 points while Stuart MacDonald (100) and Bobby Noriega (99) completed the top five.

Horrigan finished sixth with 79 points after racing only in two legs this season.
