Highlands Ladies Cup slated

MANILA, Philippines - The Highlands Ladies Cup, featuring the country’s leading golfing ladies and their guests from various sectors, will be played Nov. 20 with a maximum field of 150 tipped to clash for top honors in various divisions at Tagaytay Midlands Golf and Country Club in Tagaytay.

Organized by the Tagaytay Highlands Ladies Chapter, headed by event chairpersons Sandy Prieto-Romualdez, also THLC’s sports captain, and THLC president Dionne Cu, the 18-hole tournament will be played under the System 36 scoring format.

Prizes are at stake in the different categories of the tournament, held to foster camaraderie among the country’s top golfing lady executives and corporate bigwigs as well as their guests in the government and private sectors.

CATS Motors, exclusive distributor of Mercedes-Benz, is the event’s major sponsor along with San Miguel while Royal Caribbean and Delta Air Lines are the hole-in-one sponsors.

Other backers are San Miguel Corp, Security Bank, Regent Travel, Kaiser Intl Health Group, SM Retail, W Tower, Rosalie Heo, Bingo Bonanza, H&E Mfg. Corp., Comworks, Inc., Splash Mfg. Corp., Security Bank and Regent Travel.

Expected to hit the ceremonial tee-off are Felix Ang, president of CATS Motors, Willie Ocier, vice-chairman of Belle Corp., and Sandy Romualdez, Highlands sports captain.

Clair Ong topped last year’s Class A division while Mencie Millonado reigned in Class B with the duo expected to go for back-to-back titles in the fifth staging of the annual event.

Other events on tap are the men’s Classes A, B and C competitions with reigning national seniors champion Iggy Clavecilla expected to defend the overall gross championship.

The tournament also serves as a fund-raiser for the Sisters of Mary boys and girls town complex in Silang, Cavite as part of THLC’s social commitment.
