Ford-TRS guns for GT crown

MANILA, Philippines –  The Ford Focus-TRS Racing Team goes all out in its title campaign as the 2010 Philippine GT Championship comes to a close today at the Clark International Speedway.

Multi-titled racing champ Mike Tuason will banner the team’s quest for the overall titles as he will be joined by Ford Focus Cup protégés Sean Redpath, Bobby Horrigan and Ding Dizon with the big support of Ford Philippines, Castrol, Goodyear, Coke Zero, Discovery Suites, Standard Insurance, Speedlab, Aguila Autoglass, Rota Wheels, Starbright Bodykits, Weapon R, Fremuff, OMP, Oakley, Toptul, Dupont, Ultra Racing, Business World and C! Magazine.

The Ford Focus-TRS Racing Team is actually eyeing both the GT300 and the GT125 overall plums.

Tuason already had the GT300 title in the bag, holding a total of 240 points. The second-running Leo San Juan currently tallies 174.

Tuason, who bagged the overall Lateral Drifting amateur diadem last month, was a strong contender for the Driver of the Year early this season. But missing action in the last leg due to back pains incurred during the practice got him out of contention as frontrunning William Tan soared ahead with 270 points.

Even so, his accumulated 192 points already assures him of the overall runner-up honors

The team is also set to formally clinch a 1-2 overall finish in the GT125 with Redpath and Marcus Wong dominating the event with 123 and 115 points respectively.

Ding Dizon, who’s currently fifth with 92, and Bobby Horrigan will try to make it a 1-2-3-4 sweep for the Ford Focus-TRS Racing team using the new 1.8 Ford Focus race cars which has proven its racing championship tradition in Philippine motorsports for several years.

“It’s quite unfortunate I had to skip the last leg, but the team will go all out to write new chapter in the championship tradition of Ford’s superior technology and racing heritage,” said Tuason who’s also the TRS VP for Technical and Operations.
