TOULON, France – Apple Posadas rolled 2336 pins in 10 games as she jumped from 17th to fourth place even as former World Masters champion Biboy Rivera dropped to eighth in the 46th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup here Wednesday.
The bespectacled Rivera, who paced the field in the first qualifying but dropped to third in the second day, posted 2179 after the second five-game block to average 217.90 and slid to eighth.
However, it was Posadas’ turn to shine as she recorded a 2336 to grab the fourth spot.
Korea’s Gye Min-Young led the women’s field with 2474, followed by Malaysia’s Wendy Chai (2367) and Singapore’s Daphne Tan (2347).
American John Szczerbinski took a 75-pin lead after the second round in men’s singles with 2335.
Norway’s Mads Sandbaekken jumped from 16th to second place with 2260 after shooting a five-game series of 1207.
England’s Matt Miller took third with 2239, followed by Switzerland’s Kwan Harn-Chieh (2218) and Venezuela’s William Ching (2206).
With the final six-game block set Thursday, Malta’s Mark Spiteri holds the 24th and last spot with 2060 for a 206 average.
