Castrol fields 3 top drivers in PPCC today

-

MANILA, Philippines - After a successful campaign last year, the Tuason Racing School (TRS)-Castrol opens another chapter in its championship tradition behind three new talented recruits in the kickoff of the Philippine Production Car Championship today at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

Marcus Wong, Bobby Noriega and Sean Redpath will debut in the prestigious event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) using the all-new 1.8 Ford Focus race cars.

They will be vying for the Rookie-of-the-Year and Novice crowns under the tutelage of multi-titled car racing champ Mike Tuason and with the big support of Ford Racing, Castrol, Goodyear Racing, Standard Insurance, OMP, Discovery Suite, Coke Zero, Oakley, Aguila Auto Glass, BusinessWorld, C!Magazine, Fremuff, Dupont, Starbright Bodykits, Ultra Racing, Speedlab, Toptul, Rota Wheels and Weapon R.

“We’re confident of their chances. All three have proved their racing skills, guts, determination and we believe they all have big potentials of winning the PPCC crown,” said Tuason, who’s also the TRS VP for technicals and operations.

Wong and Noriega are both TRS graduates who put up a big show in the TRS Ford Focus Cup last year while Redpath, a product of the TRS Race clinic, joined the TRS roster of drivers this year.

All three drivers have proved their potentials, being the top contenders for the GT125 crown of the ongoing Philippine GT Championship.

Last year, Manger Calderon achieved huge strides for the team as he bagged the Rookie-of- the-Year award and the overall runner-up crown of the Philippine Production Car Championship.

Two years ago, Tuason Racing made its mark in the event behind Stuart MacDonald, who bagged both the rookie and novice crowns in a single season.

Ford Group Philippines, the only car manufacturer in the country that has supported motor sports growth in the country in this level, has been in partnership with Tuason Racing School for almost nine years.

The Ford Focus -TRS partnership has won the national touring car championship and other motor sports discipline for the past 3 years.

“This is another generation that will bring forth the superior technology and performance of Ford cars. And we’re confident they’ll continue our company’s championship racing heritage,” said Ford Group Philippines VP for Marketing Dino Obias.
