UE netters resume bid in LBC tourney

-

MANILA, Philippines - Action in the first LBC Men’s Volleyball League resumes today with two pairs of seniors and juniors matches, including the University of the East-University of the Philippines clash at the UE-Caloocan gym.

The Warriors hope to come out strong from a 10-day layoff as they square of with the Maroons, who are making their debut in the premier seniors side of the two-division league sponsored by LBC Hari ng Padala.

UE kicked off its bid with a victory over San Beda but fell to Arellano last Sept. 22, the long rest expected to give the Warriors the chance to recover their bearing for their 2:30 p.m. clash with the Maroons in Seniors B.

St. Benilde and Angeles Univ. Foundation collide in the other varsity game at 1 p.m. with the Blazers going for their first win in two starts and the AUF spikers out to check their three-game skid in Seniors A of the tournament backed by Shakey’s Pizza, Toby’s Sports, Dunkin’ Donuts, Mikasa and Asics.

Meanwhile, Xavier and Sta. Elena mix it up in the 10 a.m. opener in a duel of the unbeaten teams in Juniors A category. Both teams downed Colegio San Agustin to open their bid in the revival of men’s volleyball league.

National U also debuts against CSA at 11 a.m., looking for a victory in the 12-team, two-group junior division.

AUF and Mayamot HS showed the way with two wins in the Juniors B while Arellano and Far Eastern U paced the seniors side with two victories each.
