Seminar on sports psychology slated

MANILA, Philippines - One of the least understood and least appreciated topics in sports science will be the subject matter in the fourth leg of the ongoing Sports Science Initiatives (SSI) seminar series as leading experts in the field tackles sports psychology.

Set on Oct. 16 at the HDI Network Training Room, 3rd Floor, Jollibee Plaza, Ortigas Center in Pasig City, the one day seminar will have Naira Orbeta, MS, opening the session with an introduction to sports psychology, assessing an athlete mentally, and how injuries can affect the athlete’s mental condition, followed by veteran sports team building facilitator Lito Cinco doing a mini workshop on conducting team building sessions for sports teams.

Karen Trinidad, MS, who handles the sports psychology unit of the Phuilippine Center for Sports Medicine (PCSM), will be lecturing on how to develop mental toughness while Dr. Julian Montano, PhD, winds up with the different methods used in attaining mental strength.

The seminar, organized by LAN Sports & Events, is sponsored by Phiten , Bodivance, Gatorade Thirst Quencher, Otto Bock, KT Tape, Rehband, and GelSmart and recognized by the Gatorade Sports Science Institute, the Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Center for Sports Medicine, and affiliated with the Philippine Association of Sport and Exercise Science (PHASES).
