MANILA, Philippines - Ateneo held off Angeles U Foundation, 25-17, 25-20, 27-25, yesterday to bounce back in contention in the first LBC Men’s Volleyball League at the Arellano gym last Sunday.

Neil Flores unloaded 10 hits while Duane Teves, John Sandoval and Narciso Intal fired nine kills apiece to power the Eagles to their second win in three starts in the seniors division of the event sponsored by LBC Hari ng Padala.

The Great Danes fell to their third straight defeat.

In juniors’ action, AUF made up for its seniors’ setback as it subdued ISM, 25-22, 25-9.

Christian Pingol led the AUF charge with nine hits, all coming on spikes, while Mark Buscayno and Angelito Santos backed him up with five kills each.

Meanwhile, action in the tournament, backed by Shakey’s Pizza, Toby’s Sports, Dunkin’ Donuts, Mikasa and Asics, resumes on Saturday at the Poveda gym with St. Benilde and AUF clashing at 1 p.m. and UE and UP tangling at 2:30 p.m. in a pair of seniors matches.

Far Eastern U and Arellano show the way in the varsity division with two victories each.

Junior games pit Xavier vs Sta. Elena at 10 a.m. and NU vs Colegio San Agustin at 11 a.m.
