De Castro, Felix lead architects golf winners

MANILA, Philippines - Ruel de Castro carded a gross 85 while Jose Felix fired a 90 as they ruled their respective divisions in the Architects Golf Club’s monthly tournament at the Sun Valley Golf Club in Antipolo recently.

De Castro, a 16-handicapper, wound up with a net 69 to post a two-shot win over Pelagio Alcantara Jr. who had a 71 from a gross 81 in Group I. Jovencio Fojas Jr. finished third with a net 72 from a gross 88.

Felix made a net 72 to capture the Group B crown in the tournament sponsored by Boysen Paints and which drew 114 participants. Roland Banzon placed second with a gross 94 for a gross 74, nipping Wilfredo Cruz, who also had a net 74 from a gross 94, in the countback with a par on No. 18.

Darwin Averion topped Group III with a net 75 from a gross 96, edging Julian Confesor, who had a gross 99 for a gross 76, by one. Romeo David came in third with a net 79 from a gross 101.

Jaime Ebreo ruled Group IV with a gross 102 for a net 72 and a one-stroke win over Danny Tabifranca, who had a gross 99 for a net 73. Larry Chua took third place with a net 74 from a gross 101.

Ricardo Balagtas emerged Group V champion with a net 71 from a gross 103.
