Informatics, CEU gain last slots in Final Four

-

MANILA, Philippines - Informatics overpowered New Era U, 91-63, and Centro-Escolar U downed Our Lady of Fatima U, 61-58, yesterday to catch the last bus to the Final Four in the 10th National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities at the University of Manila gym.

Mark Limpat, a second year sophomore from Rizal, led the onslaught with 15 points as the Icons scored their 13th victory against five losses to grab a piece of second place with the STI Olympians.

But the Olympians clinched the No. 2 seed with a +1 quotient while the Icons wound up at No. 3 with a -1 quotient allowing the former to clinch the twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four.

The Scorpions needed a huge effort from Reywel Cabasal, who fired 16 points, in edging the Phoenix to clinch No. 4 with a 12-6 (win-loss) slate.

CEU will thus face off with the UM Hawks, who emerged the No. 1 seed with a 16-2 card.

The Hawks need just a win to advance to the finals while the Scorpions need two wins to snatch the other championship slot.

In the other non-bearing game, San Sebastian-Cavite trounced AMA Computer U, 68-62, to finish with a 9-9 mark.
