K-Swiss reaffirms support to Ironman

MANILA, Philippines - Inspired by the successful staging of Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines, K-Swiss and Planet Sports have reaffirmed their continued support to one of the world’s toughest triathlon events when it holds its third edition next year.

“K-Swiss and Planet Sports are very happy for the successful staging of this year’s Ironman Philippines in CamSur,” said Anton Gonzalez, president of Planet Sports Inc., local distributor of K-Swiss’ line of sports shoes.

“The sport is getting its momentum and we expect it to grow exponentially here in the Philippines,” Gonzalez said. 

Also on hand during the event, which drew 841 participants from 34 countries, was K-Swiss regional sales manager Steve Locke.

According to Gonzalez, K-Swiss will definitely be at the forefront of Ironman 70.3 Philippines in the coming years as the event’s exclusive footwear and apparel provider of an evolving collection of co-branded K-Swiss/Ironman performance and lifestyle footwear and apparel. 

“K-Swiss understands the Ironman brand’s needs extremely well and has invested the necessary resources to develop an amazing line of footwear and apparel products,” said Gonzales.

Pete Jacobs of Australia topped the grueling event, which included 1.2 miles of swimming, 58.6 miles of biking and 13.2 miles of running, in 3:58:41 with last year’s champion and K-Swiss endorser Terenzo Bozzone of New Zealand settling for second in 4 hours, 5 minutes, 54 seconds.

Magali Tisseyre clocked 4:27:01 to reign in the distaff side that drew triathlon legend and Sydney Olympics silver medalist Michellie Jones of the United States, who placed second in 4:29:23.

Aside from Bozzone, K-Swiss is also endorsed by the other triathletes, Olympians and Ironman champions, including Paul Amey, Hillary Biscay, Leanda Cave, Gina Ferguson, Belinda Granger, Heather Gollnick, Chris Lieto, Luke McKenzie, Kim Loeffler and Matt Reed.
