DBTC whips FAITH in NC South

MANILA, Philippines - Don Bosco Technical College edged host First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH), 73-71, to kick off its title-retention bid in the NCAA South Season 12 seniors cage tournament at the FAITH gym in Tanauan, Batangas Thursday.

Charles Corpuz fired 20 points while Bjorn Andrei Casibang and Earvin Josel Jose added 15 and 14, respectively, as the Grey Wolves took a share of the early lead in the 10-team competitions.

Marvin Javier and Samuel Santos produced 15 points apiece for the Bravehearts, who dropped to 1-1.

Joining DBTC atop the field were San Beda College-Alabang and De La Salle-Lipa.

The SBC-A Red Lions waylaid San Pablo Colleges, 97-56, behind the 22-point explosion of James Panaligan and the combined 32 markers of Travis Jonson, Ivan Gallardo and Reynaldo Estanislao.

For their part, the DLSL Chevrons outlasted Letran-Calamba, 74-73. Christopher Yves Abila had 19 while Mark Irwin Miguel had 15 for DLSL.

In juniors action, FAITH stormed to its second straight win and the solo lead via a 67-62 verdict over Don Bosco.

SBC-A and DLSL posted their first triumphs with the Red Cubs annihilating San Pablo Colleges, 104-41, and the Chevron boys prevailing over Letran-Calamba, 66-61.
