12 fights slated in URCC tilt
MANILA, Philippines - Mixed martial arts (MMA) fans will be treated to 12 explosive bouts, including three that feature upcoming fighters from La Salle, when the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) holds its Colt 45 University Challenge on Sept. 18 at the A. Venue Events Hall in Makati.
Jojo Tabang hopes to display his speed and power as he heads the bid of the Taft-based bets against equally talented fighters in the event presented by Colt 45 and backed by Tribal Gear, Alaxan FR, SolarTV and Solar Sports.
The two other La Salle fighters are Kevin dela Cruz and Meshaal Al-Khuzeem.
Tabang will be fighting in the pinweight category while Dela Cruz and Al-Khuzeem will see action in the lightweight division of the event backed by E-Games, 99.5RT, NU 107, Rogue Magazine, Pinoy Exchange, Synermaxx, Yoshinoya and Chris Sports.

Also with three entries is Olivarez College while University of the East and University of Perpetual Help Dalta System will field two of their best fighters in the event.
Other teams seeing action are San Beda, Adamson, Letran, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, University of Regina Carmeli, STI, AMA-East Rizal, Manila Central U, Our Lady of Fatima U, Emilio Aguinaldo College-Criminology, Lyceum and University of the Philippines.
“The event is actually their launching pad, if they perform well, then we will encourage them to train further so that they will have a chance to see action in the international tournaments, beginning with the one in Singapore,” said URCC president and founder Alvin Aguilar. “Just like in our first staging of the event, we expect hard and exciting action from these guys.”
