CEU trips Fatima, gains on NAASCU leaders

MANILA, Philippines - Centro Escolar U edged Our Lady of Fatima U, 90-86, to close in on the leaders in the 10th National Athletics Association of Schools and Colleges and Universities at the University of Manila Gym.

Leeward Lobaton, a 5-10 guard from Bacolod City, led all scorers with 21 points while Justin Antes, Axl Garcia and Leymund Babad each chipped in 12 to help the Scorpions notch their seventh win against two losses, which is good for third place.

Only University of Manila and STI are atop everyone on 9-1 (win-loss) and 8-2 slates, respectively.

San Sebastian-Cavite likewise stayed in the thick of things after it pummeled New Era U, 92-77, to move into a share of fourth place with Our Lady of Fatima and Informatics on 6-4 cards.

The 6-3 Joeffrey Acain bullied his way to 19 points while Raymond Alcasabas, Brayan Filio and Ivan Yurong scattered 17, 16 and 10 points to help in the cause.

NEU fell to its sixth setback against four wins.
