LPU enters volley final

-

MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion Lyceum of the Philippines University outlasted Feati University in five thrilling sets, 25-20, 22-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-10 to enter the second Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association men’s volleyball tournament finals recently at the LPU Gym.

The hard-fighting Pirates bucked the determined plays of the Feati spikers who appeared unaffected by the cheering crowd.

Feati lost the first set but came back mightily in the second and third sets to force the decider.

Lyceum automatically earned the first finals berth after spiking its ways to a 5-0 mark in the single round-robin elimination.

Feati dropped to 3-2 and will meet La Consolacion College-Manila (LCCM) in a knockout game with the winner advancing against Philippine Women’s University (4-1). PWU enjoys the twice-to-beat edge.

Lyceum inflicted PWU its lone loss, 28-26, 25-23, 18-15, 25-14 but the Taft-based spikers downed La Consolacion, 25-15, 25-13, 25-23.

Manila Doctors College ended its campaign with a 1-4 mark after humbling Manila Adventist Medical Center and College, 26-24, 14-25, 27-25, 24-26, 15-8.

This year’s host is Feati University with Atty. Jose Yayen of La Consolacion College as president, Melanie Tolentino as vice-president, and MDC Student Affairs assistant director Ruel dela Rosa as treasurer.

Other sports in the ISAA calendar are men’s basketball, table tennis and swimming.
