Kamayan, Media renew rivalry for Eduque Cup

-

MANILA, Philippines - The rivalry continues for the 24th straight year as the Kamayan Golf Club battles Media for the Tito Eduque Cup in the Kamayan Saisaki Dads Golf Classic today at the Camp Aguinaldo Golf Club.

The golfing members of Media will be bristling with new confidence after snapping a five-year losing streak in last year’s edition of the dual meet between Media and the Kamayan Golf Club.

After seeing a five-year domination abruptly halted last year, Kamayan will still be smarting when they tee off today starting at 6:30 a.m. on the short but tricky Aguinaldo layout.

The tournament is held in honor of Tito Eduque, the late national basketball coach and founding chairman of the Triple V Group of Restaurants. Eduque, who died in November 2001, would have turned 83 on Wednesday.

The top 10 players in each side, using their respective club handicaps, will count in the team score. Each club will also have its own tournament with its own set of prizes.

Special prizes for the longest drive, nearest to the pin, best dressed and most exercised golfers will be awarded. A cash prize of P24,000 will be staked for a hole-in-one.

But the top prize will be a one-year possession of the Eduque Cup, will be disputed in the dual meet for the ninth time.
