SSC-Cavite, Informatics prevail in NAASCU tiff

MANILA, Philippines - San Sebastian-Cavite and Informatics walloped their respective foes yesterday to enhance their campaign in the 10th National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) basketball tournament at the STI Global.

The Baycats relied on a balance attack and a rock solid defense as it overwhelmed the University of Makati Herons, 122-47, to join three others at fourth place with a 3-2 (win-loss) slate.

Mark Montuano exploded with 24 points while Jan Baltazar and Joseph Ubalde scattered 13 and 10 points, respectively, as the Icons overpowered the Pamantasang Lungsod ng Pasay Eagles, 89-64, to improve to a 2-3 record.

University of Manila, STI and Our Lady of Fatima U currently lead the way on identical 4-1 cards followed by New Era U, AMA Computer U, Centro-Escolar U and, more recently, San Sebastian Cavite at No. 4.

Aaron del Cruz fired 16 points while JR Pupos contributed 13.
