TRS Mazda sets pace in lateral drifting

-

MANILA, Philippines -  Barely two years in the drifting scene, the TRS-Castrol Drift Team evolved into one of the top competitive teams following its brilliant performance recently in the Lateral Drift Championship 2010 at the Clark International Speedway.

After creating sensation as the world’s first ever diesel-powered drifting pick-up truck last year, the Mazda BT-50 pick-up achieved bigger strides as multi-titled race car champ Mike Tuason and Bjorn Ongtiabok steered the team to a 1-2 finish in the Amateur division with the support of Castrol, Goodyear, Mazda, Coke Zero, Speedlab, Rota Wheels, Starbright Bodykits, Weapon R, Discovery Suites, Fremuff, OMP, Oakley, Toptul and C! Magazine.

Tuason, who topped the qualifying round with a fast speed of 95 kph, captured the title while Ongtiabok rose from third place in the qualifying to a runner-up feat up against third placer Norman Agojo and his Nissan Skyline.

With the victory, Tuason now wrested the overall lead for the Amateur title race with a total of 508 points or 23 points ahead of the second-running Agojo who tallies 485.

Ongtiabok is third overall with 477.5 points up against Mark Rosca and celebrity Ryan Agoncillo who holds 460 and 424 points, respectively.

“We’re quite happy with the racing excellence of the Mazda BT-50 Drift Truck and this win only proved its competitive quality up against other favored cars,” said Mike Tuason, TRS vice president of operations.
