Eastridge ends Orchard's romp in Fed League
MANILA, Philippines - Eastridge ended the five-match winning streak of Orchard in impressive fashion, posting a 4.5-.5 sweep recently to inch closer to a sure berth in the playoff rounds of the 2010 Men’s Federation Golf League.
After suffering its first loss from the same team, Eastridge took a measure of revenge and made sure Orchard felt it with a sweeping victory for an extra point that installed the Binangonan golfers the new point leaders in the league.
Eastridge improved to 12 points after the eighth week of home-and-away matches, two up on Orchard which had defeated Southwoods and Canlubang in its first two outings.
In Group 1, Forest Hills continued to show the way after plastering defending champion Sta. Elena, 5-0, at home in its sixth game.
Forest Hills won for the fourth time in five outings for 10 points including the extra point from its Sta. Elena sweep and will play its re-scheduled match with Alabang today.
Alabang, in third place at seven points behind Riviera (8), needs a good result from its games against Forest and Sta. Elena to stay in the fight for one of the two playoff slots in their division.
The race in Group 3 remains tight with all four clubs still very much in contention. Valley leads at eight points, just a point ahead of Royal Northwoods and Wack Wack while Sherwood Hills has five.
