STAR, PNP shuttlers rule Flypower tilt

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine STAR dominated the field and completed a sweep of all its matches to rule the Corporate (Varsity) category in the first Flypower Corporate Badminton Championships recently.

The STARmen outclassed its rivals from Meralco, Accenture, Philippine Air Force and the Philippine National Police en route to the championship. The Meralco shuttlers settled for runner-up honors.

Team PNP, meanwhile, nipped PAF in a thrilling final duel to cop the Corporate (Club) category plum in the two-day event organized by Flypower, Indonesia’s No. 1 brand of badminton equipment.

PNP and PAF took the top spots after the elims then battled it out through the fifth match in the finals with the former clinching the championship on the strength of its victory in the second men’s doubles match.

Other teams that saw action were Accenture, Pilipinas Shell, Smart Communications, Banco de Oro, Celestron Cable TV, Bureau of Customs, Meralco and PLDT.
