SolarTV to air RP YOG bid
MANILA, Philippines - SolarTV is conducting a two-day Youth Olympic Camp at Market! Market! in Taguig to drum up interest in the country’s participation in the 2010 Youth Olympic Games slated Aug. 14-26 in Singapore next month.
The camp will be held Aug. 7-8, primarily to promote the event to be exclusively aired by SolarTV.
SolarTV is airing the participation of the nine-man RP Team, led by world weightlifting champion Patricia Llena, in the YOG, which features athletes 14-18 years old from around 205 countries.
The nine Filipinos are part of the 3,600 athletes competing in 26 Olympic events.
Aside from Llena, who was also designated RP flag bearer during the formal opening, others on the team are promising tennis star Jeson Patrombon, taekwondo jin Kirk Barbosa, swimmers Jasmine Alkhaidi and Jessie Khing Lacuna and the 3-on-3 basketball team of Cris Michael Tolomia, Jeron Teng, Michael Anthony Pate and Bobby Ray Parks Jr.
