MANILA, Philippines - Caliraya F.C. completed its come-from-behind drive at the recently concluded 2010 Rexona-Republic Cup football tournament as it dominated Loyola Agila, 4-1, in the finals of the well-attended championship match.
With the tournament’s best pair of strikers in El Habib and Philip Zemen combining beautifully, the much-awaited finals game turned into a one side match for Caliraya as Habib completed his second hat-trick for the tournament.
He scored three goals in the finals with Zemen adding another for an insurmountable lead by Caliraya going into the last few minutes.
Loyola Agila’s Tristan Tongson booted in his team’s lone goal in the closing minutes of the game in the tournament also sponsored by Balls TV, Molten, Belo Essentials, The Bar, and Il Ponticelo.
Earlier, Zemen scored Caliraya’s marginal goal in the 36th minute for a 3-2 win over the Makati Titansaliraya in the first semifinals match. In the other play-off game, Loyola-Agila squeaked past erstwhile tournament leader Urdaneta Tarsiers via a penalty shootout after a 1-1 tie in regulation.
