Foreign fighters clash vs local foes
MANILA, Philippines - Two foreign fighters – Iranian Razi Jabbari and Ukrainian Igor Subora – vow to go all out against their respective Filipino rivals in the Colt 45 URCC XVII “Havoc” firing off July 24 at the A. Venue Events Hall in Makati.
A muay thai specialist, Jabbari, who has been in the country for four years, takes on Froilan Sarenas in the welterweight division while the 6-foot-3 Subora collides with Panchito Estrada of the Elorde Boxing in the heavyweight division of the event presented by Colt 45 and backed by Tribal Gear and Alaxan FR.
Sarenas is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu purple belter while Subora is a well-versed grappler with dangerous leg lock submission skills.
“No fighter will have an advantage (in the two bouts),” URCC president Alvin Aguilar said during yesterday’s PSA forum where he appeared alongside Jabbari, Subora and Joseph Consol, Colt 45 brand manager. “Both fights are expected to be a tossup.”
The event, backed by Solar TV, Solar Sports, 99.5 RT, NU 107, Rogue Magazine and Pinoy Exchange, will be highlighted by the title defense of pinweight Filipino Roy Docyogen against Jordan Ogo of Saipan.
Tickets are now available at all Ticketworld outlets (tel. no.8919999). For details, log on to www.urccmma.com.
One of the rising stars of the famous Team Lakay Wushu, Docyogen hopes to stretch his win run in the mixed martial arts (MMA) tournament to eight.
Meanwhile, Consol assured Colt 45’s continued support of the MMA event.
“Since Colt 45 is a beer for real men, URCC is all about strength, aggression and showing your stuff,” said Consol.
Focus will also be on the other pinweight tussle pitting DEFTAC’s Reggis Amarante against D’Elements Gym’s Chary dela Cruz.
Other matches in the event, backed by VRP Medical Center, Chris Sports, Yoshinoya and SEAIR, pit Bernardo Soriano versus Honorario Banario (lightweight), Noel Narada against Rad Llanasa (pinweight), Andrew Benibe opposite Jessie Rafols (bantamweight), Reysaldo Transmonte against Lino Tagacay (bantamweight), Carl Sabeniano against Jerson Estoro (featherweight) and Charry Dela Cruz versus Regie Amarante (pinweight).
