UFL tops international side in All-Star

MANILA, Philippines - The United Football League’s top Filipino players pulled off a 4-3 victory over an international selection in the All-Star match capping UFL’s season at the Nomads Sports Club in Merville recently.

Air Force strikers Martin Doctora and Ian Araneta and Army Phiten midfielder Roel Gener delivered the first half goals for the Filipinos against Kaya Digiprint striker Izzeldin Elhabbib as RP seized control, 3-1.

Global Smartmatic’s Ivory Coast native Remi Alain-Sery and Elhabbib scored a pair of goals in the second half to force a tie but Emelio “Chieffy” Caligdong countered with his own goal to secure the win for the hosts before a big crowd.

The event was backed by Gatorade, Phiten, Outback Steakhouse and Arthaland.

Meanwhile, Second Division champion Global Smartmatic will be promoted to the First Division next season.
