Archers, Chiefs in vital match

MANILA, Philippines - La Salle and Arellano clash in a crucial  showdown today with both teams going all out for a victory to boost their respective quarterfinal bids in the penultimate playdate of the Filoil Flying V Pre-Season Invitational Cup eliminations at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Both teams have struggled in the run-up to the match set at 5 p.m. with the Green Archers losing a pair of games in blowouts and the Chiefs scoring just two wins in six games.

A win by either squad, however, is not a guarantee of an automatic quarters berth since the winning team will have to wait for the result of the Perpetual-San Beda College match tomorrow.

Focus, however, will be on the Archers, tipped to get past the Chiefs and clinch the No. 4 spot in Group B for a possible clash with the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the next round.

The Blue Eagles, the No. 1 team in Group A, will battle the No. 4 seed in Group B, and vice-versa, while the No. 2 teams from each group will play the No. 3 from the other group based on the format in the tournament presented by Mighty Bond Extreme.
