Dela Cruz, Dulas rule Smart tennis

MANILA, Philippines - Arjohn Dela Cruz and Marinel Dulas topped their respective divisions to lead the winners in the Manila leg of the Smart/Head Junior Tennis Tour Satellite Circuit at the Meralco Tennis Courts in Pasig City.

Dela Cruz held off John Maverick Victoria, 6-1, 7-5, to cop the 16-under boys’ crown while Dulas bagged the 16-under girls’ plum with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Marian Capadocia.

Dela Cruz and Dulas, however, failed in the 18-under finals with the former bowing to Deo Talatayod and the latter losing to Maika Tanpoco.

Dela Cruz and Dulas were later named the leg’s top performers and received cellphones and loads from Smart Communications and tennis equipment from Head.

Dela Cruz and Dulas received brand new cellphones and loads from Smart Communucations as well as tennis equipment from Head for becoming the top performers.

The other winners in the event, presented by sports patron Manny Pangilinan, chairman of Smart Sports, in cooperation with Head, Chris Sports, Toalson and Meralco, were Norman Gaspar (10 unisex), Erick Olivarez Jr. (12 boys), Erika Manduriao (12 girls), Argil Lance Canizares (14 boys) and Krizelle Sampaton (14 girls).
