Peruvian ends Jeson's French Open Jrs bid
MANILA, Philippines - Jeson Patrombon failed to sustain his second set fightback and dropped a 6-2, 7-6 (4), 6-2, decision to ninth-seed Duilio Beretta of Peru, bowing out of the French Open Juniors Championships at Roland Garros in Paris Tuesday.
Outplayed in the opening set, Patrombon fought back in the second and eked out a win in the tiebreak to force a decider. But he succumbed to the Peruvian’s power game and dropped out of the tournament.
Beretta will next face sixth-ranked Denis Kudla of the US in the quarterfinal.
Beretta unleashed 10 aces against the Filipino bet while breaking six times in the one hour, 54-minute match.
Meanwhile, Francis Casey Alcantara and Fil-Am partner Raymond Sarmiento take on Carlos Boluda-Purkiss of Spain and Alessando Colella of Italy in the second round of the boys’ doubles today.
Patrombon and partner Ahmed Triki of Tunisia also lost to Romain Arneodo and Mathias Bourque of France, 4-6, 6-1, 14-12, in the first round of the doubles competition.
