7 MCC kids vie in US tilt

MANILA, Philippines - Jonathan Abo of Pasig and Al Matthew Canafe of Albay head the seven-player RP contingent competing in the Las Vegas International Chess Festival slated June 10-13 at south Point Hotel in Las Vegas.

Joining the duo are Stephen Kyle Cinco of Muntinlupa, Judino Tadeo Macayan of Dasmariñas, Cavite, Paul Adrian Manila of Parañaque, Richmond Obogne of Quezon City and Ma. Roselle Vicencio of Parañaque.

The team, backed by Las Vegas-based Polynesian Entertainment owned by Rozita Lee, will be headed by WNM Mila Emperado, who will act as the players’ guardian-coach. The team’s campaign is backed by the Philippine Sports Commission and the National Chess Federation of the Philippines.
