Petecio loses to Indian bet

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Women’s team suffered its second straight setback in the ongoing ASBC (Asian Boxing Confederation) Women’s Boxing Championships as Nesthy Petecio dropped a close decision to Indian Pavitra Tuesday in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Petecio held her own against the Indian but could not sustain her momentum and eventually lost, 4-5.

The Davao City native took a 3-1 lead in the second round after a 1-1 standoff in the initial canto, but the tall Pavitra rallied with a bristling counter attack to reverse the score, 4-3, in the third round.

The RP Women’s team, supported by PLDT, Clusivol, Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission, will have another shot at scoring a first round win as flyweight Alice Kate Aparri of Baguio City faces South Korean So Min Kyung late Wednesday.
