Caliraya FC, Urdaneta share lead

MANILA, Philippines - The Caliraya Football Club posted twin victories to share the lead in a surprise showing at the opening of the 2010 Rexona Republic Cup at the Manila Polo Club last weekend.

Caliraya edged the Makati Titans, 4-2, in the first game and won by default over Salcedo FC (3-0) in the second to share the early lead with the Urdaneta Tarsiers in the annual football tournament presented by Rexona.  

Jerwin Ngo, Izo, and Kim Garcia combined for Caliraya’s four goals in the first half to take the fight out of the Makati Titans.

Urdaneta leaned on the lone goal of Tom Cragg to beat Salcedo FC, 1-0, before scoring a 3-0 shutout of Loyola Agila in the second game. 

Kenji Inukai, Rupee Macahilig, and Luigi Celdran booted in Urdaneta’s goals.

The Makati Titans made up for the loss with a 2-1 win over Loyola Agila, thanks toAdorno and Anton del Rosario’s markers in the second half.

The tournament is organized by the Pureplay-Titans Football Alliance and supported by Balls TV as media partner, Belo Essentials, The Bar, Molten, the official ball, and 89.1.
