Casey shines; Jeson goes thru wringer

MANILA, Philippines - Francis Casey Alcantara and Jeson Patrombon defeated their opponents in contrasting styles in the first round of the 46th Astrid Bowl Charleroi, Belgian International Junior Championships 2010 at the Charleroi-Marcinelle, Belgium.

Alcantara breezed past lucky loser Robin Cambier of Belguim, 6-1, 6-1, while Patrombon needed to come back from a set down to defeat Darian King of Belarus, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Alcantara and Patrombon will have to give it their all in the second round as they will face the top two junior netters in the tournament, a tune-up event for the French Open juniors tournament next week.

The 18-year-old Alcantara will face top-seed ace Jason Kubler of Australia while Patrombon set up a date with second-seed Mate Zsiga of Hungary.

Kubler and Zsiga earned a first round bye.
