Runnex 10K classic slated

MANILA, Philippines - Running aficionados from the managerial and executive ranks of local companies and business enterprises, government and military organizations, and the diplomatic corps will show their wares anew in the 27th Runnex 10K Executive Classic on May 23 on the University of the Philippines Diliman campus.

The 10K footrace is an annual project of the Executive Runners Club Philippines (Runnex), the oldest private organization of executive runners in the Philippines. For this year’s race edition, Runnex announced that entries will only be limited to 350 runners.

Runnex also said entries from the military must have a minimum rank of captain and those from government offices should be a division chief at least. Professionals who passed a government licensure exam are also eligible to join the race which has a minimum age requirement of 30 years old. Businessmen qualified to join the race are those with at least 25 employees.

The top finishers and age-group winners of the race will receive trophies and special prizes. Medals and finishers’ 10K Executive Classic T-shirts and certificates await those who will complete the race. This event dovetails with Runnex Discovery Running Series launched early this year by the club’s new set of officers led by its chairman Rudy Fernandez.

The series focuses on a structured training program for both beginners and veteran runners, and aims at making running as an agent for a permanent lifestyle change toward health and fitness. Its springboard is a three-month running clinic that primarily trains running newbies to finish 10K, 15K, 21K, and 42K events. Free to the public, these clinics are held every Sunday also at the UP Diliman campus.
