Kenyan flattens field in PSN Fun Run

- Joey Villar -

MANILA, Philippines - Kenyan Anthony Rosgei and Filipina Nhea Ann Barcena reigned supreme yesterday in the premier 10-kilometer event of the first Pilipino Star Ngayon Fun Run-for-a-Cause that started and ended at the SM Mall of Asia grounds in Pasay.

Mervin Guarte, a San Sebastian College incoming sophomore who harvested gold medals in last year’s NCAA and in the Palarong Pambansa two years ago, and Luisa Raterte also emerged victorious in topping the 5K run.

Michael Bacong and Serenata Saluan, for their part, ruled the 3K race of the PSN Fun Run held to raise funds for the paper’s Adopt-a-School program dubbed “Bigay Todo sa Pagtakbo.”

The event drew close to 3,000 runners from all walks of life including the Philippine National Police headed by its chief Jesus Versoza.

Premier beneficiary is the San Isidro Elementary School in Naguillan, La Union, ravaged by landslide caused by Typhoon Pepeng.

The event, organized by Runningmate, was backed by Globe, SM Mall of Asia, Pilipino Star Printing, The Philippine STAR, Western Ink, The Real Bank, Wheat Grass, Microtel Hotels and Resorts, San Mig Coffee, Top Nine, Premier Adhesive, Nestle Milo, Pan Pacific Manila, Diamond Hotel, R.O.X., Chris Sports and media partners PM, the Freeman and Banat.
