Beach volley tourney up at Cantada's

MANILA, Philippines - The PCSO Metro-Manila Women’s Beach Volleyball Open unfolds tomorrow at the sand court of the Cantada Sports Center in Taguig City.

Organized by Joe Cantada Sports and bankrolled by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Tanduay, Cobra Energy Drink, Toyota Balintawak, Mapecon Pest Control and Speedo, the tournament is open to Manila-based varsity teams as well as out-of-school squads.

“We’re staging a truly unique event. There is, of course, the usual tough competition but we’re including some programs to make this some sort of a beach party. Everybody who loves sports is invited,” said chief organizer Edgardo Cantada.

Aside from the cash prizes offered to the winners, Joe Cantada Sports also tapped an all-female band to provide lively music while preparing free Tanduay mixed drinks and food for all participants, officials and guests. Even the venue, considered the most equipped facility south of Manila, has been spruced up for the event.

Gametime starts at 4 p.m. and the celebration is expected to last until the night.

“This is also our way of expressing gratitude to our supporters who have made all our projects at Joe Cantada Sports successful. Let’s bid adieu to the scorching summer with a party among friends,” added Cantada.
