MANILA, Philippines - Kids take time out from their busy summer schedule as they take center stage to compete in the Looney Tunes Active Fun Run 2010 slated May 29 at SM Megamall.
The organizing Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) has limited the field to 1,000 with the event set over the 3K distance featuring children aged 4-12. Listup is ongoing at Timex SM Megamall with fee pegged at P350.
Assembly time is at 6:30 a.m. with the race set to fire off at 7 a.m. The Looney Tunes Active!, a Warner Bros. project aimed at promoting a healthy and active lifestyle not only among children but also their parents, held a series of fun runs, including running clinics, in various schools last year.
SM Cebu will also hold on June 5 a bigger Looney Tunes Active fun run, which features six events, including a novel 500-m run among 4-and-under year-olds. The other events are the 1K and 1.5K runs for 5-7, 8-9 and 10-12 age groupers, and the open 3K, 5K and 10K events.
The race directors for both Looney Tunes runs are renowned running coach Rio dela Cruz and Noy Jopson, the country’s Iron Man.
Registration for the Looney Tunes-Cebu run is also ongoing with deadline set on May 30 at the Timex Shop at Ayala Cebu and Watch Republic Cebu. Fees are pegged at P250 for the 500m run and 1K and 1.5K races, P350 for 3K and 5K runs and P400 for the centerpiece 10K event.
A minimum purchase of P500 worth of Looney Tunes licensed products at SM department store character shops will also entitle one to a singlet for the Megamall or Cebu to encourage kids and their parents to take part.
WBCP, through its Philippine agent Global Brands Group, held a successful school tour last year where a running clinic was also conducted by renowned coach Rio dela Cruz in cooperation with the sports clubs of the participating schools in Metro Manila.
