MCC chess kicks off

MANILA, Philippines - The MCC 1900 below standard two-day chess tournament kicks off at 1 p.m. today at the St. Francis Square behind SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

The five-round Swiss event is open to beginners, unrated and rated players with NCFP ratings not over 1900.

At stake is a total pot of P10,000 with the champion getting P3,000. The top scorers in the unrated, kiddies 12-under and juniors (16-under) will also receive special cash prizes.
