Dominguez homer gives ILLAM LL title

MANILA, Philippines - Pocholo Dominguez hit a three-run homer as he powered International Little League Association of Manila to a thrilling 14-11 victory over defending champion Tanauan in the final of the Philippine Little League Baseball Series in Daet, Camarines Norte recently.

Carly Laurel preserved fellow hurler Dominguez’s heroics in the sixth inning by holding the Tanauan batters scoreless to help deliver the championship in the Big League division.

Dominguez’s exploits actually didn’t come as a big surprise since the 17-year-old pitcher has had a series of feats in the past, both in national or international competitions.

He just came off a big stint in the Southeast Asian Youth Baseball League where he combined with American Levine for the Capital City Manila at the Jakarta National Stadium.

Dominguez and Levine emerged the only two players from the international delegation to hit homeruns in the tournament, netting them berths in the homerun derby finals.

A high school student at the Reedley International School, Dominguez has represented the country in various international competitions, including the Perth tournament where he helped Capital City Manila to the championship.

Dominguez is the son of Goodwill Ambassador June Alma Dominguez and grandson of Education Secretary Mona Valisno.
